April 1, 2011

Welcome to Listing Your Way Through the Bible, our unique bible study based on making lists as we work through daily readings.

April 1, 2011: The readings for today are Judges 6 and 7 and Luke 8:1-21. Here are some lists for the reader to contemplate while reading.

Judges 6:
  • List a description of Gideon from all that we learn in today's readings.
  • List the name of the altar Gideon built and why he called it that.
  • List the other name that Gideon was called and why he was called that.
  • List the two requests that Gideon made about the fleece.

Judges 7:
  • List the various ways the Lord had Gideon shrink his fighting force and how many were left with each way.
  • List the reason the Lord wanted Gideon to fight with a small force.

Luke 8:1-21:
  • Draw an intersecting vertical and horizontal line (like a cross) to form 4 squares or boxes. In each box, put one of the seeds that Jesus talked about and what happened to the seed. Fill up each box with each of the four different seeds.
  • List the following meanings from Jesus' story about the seed:
    • farmer:
    • seed:
    • seed on hard path:
    • rocky soil:
    • thorny ground:
    • good soil:
  • Write out verses 17-18.
  • Write out Jesus' words in verse 21.
