February 1, 2011: The readings for today are: Exodus 27 and 28 and Matthew 21:23-46. Here are some lists for the reader to contemplate while reading.


Exodus 27:

  • Continue listing the items that the Israelites were to make and the materials the items were to be made of.


Exodus 28:


  • List the items to be made for the priests' clothing.
  • List the stones on the Ephod, what was to be engraved on them, and their purpose.
  • List the gemstones on the chestpiece by rows.
  • List what goes in the chestpiece pocket and their purpose.
  • List the additional items to be worn by the priests.


Matthew 21:23-46:


  • In verses 23-27, the leading priests and other leaders ask Jesus where he got his authority. Jesus responded with the parable of two sons.
  • List what each son said and did.
  • List what Jesus explained about his story.
  • In the story of the evil farmers, list each group of messengers sent by the landowner and what happened to them.
  • Write out verses 43 and 44.

Exodus 25:

  • List the items that Moses could accept on behalf of the Lord for an offering from the Israelites.
  • List the various things in this chapter that the Lord wanted the Israelites to make and list what each item was to be made out of.


Exodus 26:


  • List all the items that would be needed for the Tabernacle.


Matthew 21:1-22:


  • Jesus enters Jerusalem on a donkey's colt and the people place tree branches along the road. List all the names or attributes that prophecy and the people called Jesus.
  • List what Jesus did in the Temple.
  • List what happened between Jesus and the fig tree.
  • Write out verse 22.

Exodus 19:

  • Write out verse 5.
  • List the Lord's instructions for the Israelites to prepare themselves for the Lord's visit.
  • List what happened on the third day.
Exodus 20:

  • List the 10 commandments. It's alright to summarize.
Exodus 21:
  • List the topics that the Lord gave instructions about.
Matthew 20:1-16:


  • Draw two vertical lines down the page to form three columns. Label the left column "When Hired," the center column "Pay Agreement," and the right column "Wage Paid."
  • In the left column, enter the various times of the day that the estate owner hired workers.
  • In the center column, list the pay agreement that the estate owner and the workers entered into.
  • In the right column list the actual wage that the estate owner paid.

    • Write out the first part of what Moses said in verse 13.

    January 26, 2011: The readings for today are: Exodus 11 and 12 and Matthew 18:21-35. Here are some lists for the reader to contemplate while reading.


    Exodus 11:

    • List the last disaster that Moses was to tell the Egyptians.
    Exodus 12:
    • List the Lord's instructions to the Israelites about celebration in the future.
    • List the significance of the blood smeared on the door.
    • Draw the outline of a door. Place marks on the door where the blood should go. Now trace a line from the top place to the floor, and from side to side from the blood places. What do you see?
    • List all the significant parts of the Festival of Unleavened Bread.
    Matthew 18:21-35:
    • Draw a vertical line down the center of the page. Draw three horizontal lines across the page to form 6 boxes. Label the left column of boxes "Debtor and Debt" and the right column "Debt Owner's response."
    • In the left box on the first row , list the information related to the first servant's debt: how much he owed, who he owed it to, what he would have to do to pay off the debt, and what the debtor said to the person he owed the money to.
    • In the right box on the first row, list who the debt was owed to and what that person's response was when the debtor begged.
    • In the 2nd row of boxes, the first servant is now the person in the right column. List the appropriate information related to this debt, the debtor's dilemma, and the 1st servant's response.
    • In the 3rd row of boxes, the first servant is again to be put in the left box. Now add the appropriate information related to the debt, the debtor, and the response of the owner of the debt.
    • I like to draw a line from box to box to trace the progression of the first servant.

    January 25, 2011: The readings for today are: Exodus 9 and 10 and Matthew 18:1-20. Here are some lists for the reader to contemplate while reading.


    Exodus 9 & 10: In these chapters, we will continue to list the plagues that God brought upon Pharaoh and Egypt. Continue with your list from yesterday.

    • In the left column under "Moses and Aaron," list the plagues described.
    • In the right column under "Pharaoh and Egyptians," list the reactions of Pharaoh and the Egyptians and describe what happened.
    • Go back to yesterday and look through the complete list you have made about the plagues. Note the things and the people that were affected by the plagues.


    Matthew 18:1-20:


    • From verses 2-9, list what we must do to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
    • From verses 15-18, list the four steps Jesus outlined to treat believers who sin.
    • Write out verse 18.
    • Write out verses 19-20.

    Exodus 7 & 8: These chapters begins the outline of the eleven miraculous signs that Moses was to perform before Pharaoh and the Egyptians. Draw a line down the center of the page. Label the left column "Moses and Aaron" and the right column "Pharaoh and Egyptians."

    • List the 5 various miraculous signs performed by Moses and Aaron in the left column.
    • In the right column, list what Pharaoh, Pharaoh's magicians, or the Egyptians did or how they responded.
    Matthew 17:

    • List the 3 figures that Peter, James, and John saw on top of the mountain.
    • Write out the main part of verse 20.
    • In verses 22-23, list the 3 things that Jesus says will happen to him.
