January 26, 2011

Welcome to Listing Your Way Through the Bible, our unique bible study based on making lists as we work through daily readings.

January 26, 2011: The readings for today are: Exodus 11 and 12 and Matthew 18:21-35. Here are some lists for the reader to contemplate while reading.

Exodus 11:

  • List the last disaster that Moses was to tell the Egyptians.
Exodus 12:
  • List the Lord's instructions to the Israelites about celebration in the future.
  • List the significance of the blood smeared on the door.
  • Draw the outline of a door. Place marks on the door where the blood should go. Now trace a line from the top place to the floor, and from side to side from the blood places. What do you see?
  • List all the significant parts of the Festival of Unleavened Bread.
Matthew 18:21-35:
  • Draw a vertical line down the center of the page. Draw three horizontal lines across the page to form 6 boxes. Label the left column of boxes "Debtor and Debt" and the right column "Debt Owner's response."
  • In the left box on the first row , list the information related to the first servant's debt: how much he owed, who he owed it to, what he would have to do to pay off the debt, and what the debtor said to the person he owed the money to.
  • In the right box on the first row, list who the debt was owed to and what that person's response was when the debtor begged.
  • In the 2nd row of boxes, the first servant is now the person in the right column. List the appropriate information related to this debt, the debtor's dilemma, and the 1st servant's response.
  • In the 3rd row of boxes, the first servant is again to be put in the left box. Now add the appropriate information related to the debt, the debtor, and the response of the owner of the debt.
  • I like to draw a line from box to box to trace the progression of the first servant.
