Welcome to Listing Your Way Through the Bible, our unique bible study based on making lists as we work through daily readings.

The readings for today are Ezra 6, 7, and 8 and John 21. Here are some lists for the reader to contemplate while reading.

Ezra 6:

  • List the message that King Darius sent to the governor and officials about the Temple reconstruction (brief summary list).
  • List the punishment for disobeying the decree.
  • Write out verse 12a.
  • List who ate the Passover meal.

Ezra 7:

  • Throughout this chapter, we read various descriptions of Ezra and the favor King Artaxerxes bestowed on Ezra. List these descriptions.
  • List Ezra's response to this favor.

Ezra 8:

  • Ezra took exiles on the journey to Jerusalem. List which tribe was absent and what Ezra did about it.
  • Ezra did not ask the king for soldiers to protect the travelers on the journey. List what he did instead.
  • List what the exiles did when they arrived at Jerusalem.

John 21:

  • List the disciples who saw Jesus at the Sea of Galilee.
  • When the disciples saw Jesus on the shore, list their reactions and what they did.
  • Draw a vertical line down the center of the page. Label the left column "Jesus Question" and the right column "Jesus Command."
  • From today's reading, list each question that Jesus asked Peter in the left column. Then list Jesus's command to Peter in the right column.
