Welcome to Listing Your Way Through the Bible, our unique bible study based on making lists as we work through daily readings.

The readings for today are Ezra 1 and 2 and John 19:23-42. Here are some lists for the reader to contemplate while reading.

Ezra 1:
  • List what Cyrus king of Persia stated in his proclamation.
  • List the inventory of articles of gold and silver that were to be returned to the Temple.

Ezra 2:
  • List the main divisions of people who returned to Jerusalem and Judah. There is no need to list names, just general descriptive titles (e.g., temple servants, gatekeepers, etc.).

John 19:23-42
  • List how the soldiers divided up Jesus's clothes.
  • List the women who were at the crucifixion.
  • Draw a vertical line down the center of the page. Label the left column "Jesus's words" and the right column "What happened."
  • From the reading, list the words of Jesus and what happened each time.
  • List what the soldiers did to determine whether the crucified men had died, and what happened to Jesus.
  • List the two men who retrieved Jesus's body and prepared it for burial.
