January 9

Welcome to Listing Your Way Through the Bible, our unique bible study based on making lists as we work through daily readings.

January 9, 2011: The readings for today are: Genesis 23 & 24 and Matthew 8. Here are some lists for the reader to contemplate while reading.

Genesis 23:
  • Draw a vertical line down the center of your paper. Label the left column "Abraham" and the right column "Hittites."'
  • In the left column, list the three requests that Abraham made of the Hittites.
  • In the right column, list the three answers given by the Hittites.
Genesis 24:
  • List the things contained in the prayer of Abraham's servant.
  • List all the gifts given to Rebekah by Abraham's servant.
  • List all the various kindnesses and hospitable gestures that Rebekah's family bestowed on Abraham's servant.
Matthew 8:
  • Draw two vertical lines down the paper, dividing the paper into three columns. Label the left column "Problem," the center column "Miracle," and the right column "Afterwards."
  • In the left column, list the following topics:
    • leprosy
    • Roman officer's servant ill
    • Peter's mother-in-law sick
    • storm
    • demon possession
  • Now list the appropriate items from the readings in the center and right columns. The "Afterwards" column may contain a description of what happened as a result of the miracle.
