January 15

Welcome to Listing Your Way Through the Bible, our unique bible study based on making lists as we work through daily readings.

January 15, 2011: The readings for today are: Genesis 36 & 37 and Matthew 12:1-21. Here are some lists for the reader to contemplate while reading.

Genesis 36: Chapter 36 contains a listing of Essau's descendants.

  • List the names of each of Essau's wives and the number of sons and grandchildren of each.
  • Verses 20-43 lists the names of other tribes, clans, or kings. List what is being recorded here in general.

Genesis 37:

  • Draw a vertical line down the center of the page. Label the left column "Joseph" and the right column "Brothers."
  • Describe the things that Joseph would do to his brothers in the left column.
  • List each evil thing that Joseph's brothers did to Joseph or Joseph's father.

Matthew 12:1-21:

  • Draw a vertical line down the center of the page. Label the left column "Jesus" and the right column "Pharisees."
  • List in the appropriate columns what Jesus said or did and the Pharisee's responses or questions.
  • Write out the last part of verse 7.
  • Write out the last part of verse 12.
