January 13

Welcome to Listing Your Way Through the Bible, our unique bible study based on making lists as we work through daily readings.

January 13, 2011: The readings for today are: Genesis 31 & 32 and Matthew 10:24-42. Here are some lists for the reader to contemplate while reading.

Genesis 31
  • List the steps Jacob took to decide what to do about Laban.
  • List Laban's accusations concerning Jacob.
  • List Jacob's rebuttal points.
  • List the treaty points between Laban and Jacob. Include the actions taken by both parties. You might consider dividing the page into two columns, one for Laban and one for Jacob.
Genesis 32
  • List the steps Jacob took to contact and prepare for the first meeting with his brother.
  • In verses 9.12, list the parts of Jacob's prayer.
Matthew 10:24-42
  • In verses 24-27, list what Jesus told his disciples to do when persecuted by threats.
  • In verses 28-33, list what Jesus told his disciples to do when persecuted by physical harm.
  • In verses 34-39, list what Jesus told his disciples to do when persecuted and rejected by loved ones.
  • In verses 40-42, list the instructions Jesus gave to his disciples and the rewards that will come for following instructions.
